Yellow warning of snow issued across some parts of Ayrshire

03:00 on Friday until 12:00 on Friday

A spell of snow is likely across parts of northern England and southern Scotland on Friday morning.

Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. Some delays to air travel are also possible.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

A band of rain, heavy at times, is expected to move eastwards over the UK. With cold air in place, a spell of snow looks likely to develop on its eastern edge.

Above around 100 metres, 2-5 cm is possible quite widely, and up to 10 cm over higher ground.

Some places to the east of the Pennines may see some accumulating snow to lower levels.
