65th Ayr Golf Week draws to a close after a successful anniversary
Ayr Golf Week has wrapped up with the popular event attracting bumper numbers for its 65th anniversary.
More than six hundred competitors battled it out in the summer sun across the seven days of competition for the South Ayrshire Council event.
Ayr Golf Week took place on Belleisle, Seafield and Dalmilling Golf Courses from 5-11 June. There are nine different competitions across the seven days with the main event being the Tam o' Shanter and Handyside Tournaments on Sat 11th June.
This year's winners were:
John Kokolay (Windermere) won the 2016 cup, finishing two-up on runner-up Justine Horne (Turnberry). John also won the David Gemmell memorial open.
Tam o' Shanter Trophy
Greg Telfer (St Cuthbert) won the 2016 trophy, finishing three-up on runner up Rory McGuire (Belleisle).
Jill Cronin, South Ayrshire Council's Head of Enterprise, Development and Leisure said the event had been an unqualified success "I'd like to thank everyone involved for making this year's competition such a memorable event for all involved.
"In the year The Open takes place in South Ayrshire we're already seeing a huge appetite for all things golf, and we were lucky with the weather for Ayr Golf Week this year, which always makes a difference on competition days.
"We're committed to supporting golf locally and I'm sure all those attending the new Belleisle clubhouse would have been impressed by this new showcase facility."
