Ardrossan coastguard team assist with missing person search

TEAM ASSIST WITH MISSING PERSON SEARCH

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team was called out at 5.30pm yesterday as part of a multi-agency missing person search in Irvine.

The team was called out at the request of Ayrshire Police Division along with Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team and Troon Lifeboat to assist with an ongoing high risk missing search.

Following consultation with Police Scotland, a full shoreline search was commenced in the area around Irvine Harbour involving both Coastguard Rescue Teams, the All Weather and Inshore lifeboats from Troon and additional support form the Police Scotland Air Support Unit.

During the course of the search, an update was received advising the missing person had been traced at a location in South Ayrshire and the search of Irvine Harbour was thereafter concluded.

With the missing person traced, all Coastguard Search & Rescue assets were stood down to return to their respective stations with the team returning to Ardrossan to repack equipment and complete the necessary paperwork.

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to those in need at the coast and beyond.
