Councillors Back Exciting New Plans for Belleisle House

From Ashes To Sumptuous Hotel

This week, councillors took the next step in securing an exciting future for Belleisle House.

Having saved the building by repurchasing it earlier this year, the Council’s Leadership Panel of 15 September agreed that it should be restored as a hotel and events venue.

They have already carried out a feasibility study which indicates a cost of around £12.5 million to transform Belleisle House into a 19/20 bedroom hotel with a function space for around 200 people.

The council are now taking steps to identify a private partner to help them realise this ambition.

Specialist consultants will prepare a tender package, outlining how the joint venture will work. It’s anticipated that this will take around four months to complete.

In the meantime, South Ayrshire Council will begin initial preparations for redevelopment.

Councillor Brian McGinley, Resources and Performance Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said:

“Turning Belleisle House back into a prestigious hotel and events space is the right thing to do.

“We have around £1million to progress plans, but we will also need funding from the private sector to make this happen.

“The rejuvenation of this iconic building will be a welcome decision locally and follows years of investment in the park, which is a firm favourite with locals and tourists. This is great news for South Ayrshire and I’m positive this exciting  project will encourage more visitors to the area.”
