Go! Festival Ayr - Saturday 7 September - Road Closures
The first ever Go! Festival will be coming to Ayr on Saturday 7 September 2019. The festival includes a half marathon, and other road racing.
The organisers are planning to close a number of roads to facilitate the event so there will be traffic disruption on the day.
Starting at 1:00pm on the Saturday, the plan is to close some roads before the running starts and open the road as soon as the last competitor has cleared each road junction. There will still be access for emergency vehicles even if the road is closed. Arrangements will also be made to provide access for care providers. These are the earliest and latest times that the roads are expected to be closed: Area 1 – Promenade / Fort / town centre to Miller road Expected to close from 1pm – 5:45pm If you need to use your car, please park outside the closed areas. The north harbour, the Sandgate and town centre car parking will be unrestricted. The esplanade and access to Ayr from some directions will be temporarily affected. Diversion signs will be in place. Area 2 – Racecourse Road / Seafield to the river Doon Expected to close from 1:00pm – 6:00pm There will be limited access to Seafield through a manned crossing at Seafield Road at the Chestnuts Hotel. There may be delays of up to 30 minutes during the main running times. If you want to use your car during the closure period, there will be free car parking on the Old Racecourse football pitches. Area 3 – Greenfield Avenue / Alloway centre / Rozelle Park / the Loaning / Cambusdoon Various roads are expected to close from 1:45pm – 7:00pm. If you need to use your car, the roads between The Loaning and the A77 and along Maybole road will not be affected. There is also free car parking at the Old Racecourse football pitches. Area 4 –Brig O Doon / Longhill Avenue / Dunure Road / Doonfoot Partial road closures will affect Doonfoot Road, Greenfield Road and Dunure Road from 1:00pm – 7:00pm. Traffic will be directed to the roads which are open. If you need to use your car during the closure period, follow the diversion signs or park outside the affected area.
