Popular Ayr Running Go! Festival rescheduled until next year
The running festival which seen thousands get involved last year in Ayr has postponed this years even until 2021 amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
Organisers say it's almost impossible to plan such a major outdoor event in light of the current situation affecting the world right now.
The Go! Festival has been hugely successful in Ayr with closed road races, funfair rides for the family and night time aircraft displays - ultimately bringing not just the runners but their families, creating a real festival atmosphere.
Thousands of people lined the promenade at Ayr Beach to watch the night-time flying display with thousands of pyrotechnics being set off from the aircrafts.
Speaking with Doug McLean, on of the event organisers, he said:
"We have met many people at the various exhibitions in Birmingham and Glasgow over the last couple of months and we continue to have very positive feedback on our closed road half marathon, 10K and family cycle routes last year. All on closed roads, scenic courses and fast times achieved.
"With all of the country in lockdown at the moment it is almost impossible to plan a major outdoor event. We are not even sure if events will be permitted in August so we have taken the decision to reschedule for Saturday April 24th 2021. All entries will be moved to this date and full details are now on the website www.gofestival.scot.
"We are confident that the 2021 Go! Festival will be even more popular than before and early bird entries are now open on the website.
"Stay safe everyone and we look forward to seeing you in Ayr on Saturday 24th April 2021
Please share this information with all your running friends and give them a chance to snap up and early bird entry."
