McCoo artist helps make young Scot with Asperger’s dream come true

A young boy, whose story of finding out he had Asperger's has inspired people across the world, had his dreams come true when he found out his drawing of ‘Lewis McCoo’ would be replicated to a print and sold across the world.

Lewis Clark drew his ‘McCoo’ in the style of artist Steven Brown who was so touched by his story that he wanted to meet the young lad.

Steven invited Lewis and his family to his in shop in Ayr and told him that he would be replicating his drawing to prints and donating all profits to Scottish Autism.

Lewis found out last week that he suffered from Asperger's after his parents took the decision that it was time to tell him.

His gran Isobel wanted a way of showing him that he can achieve whatever he sets out to do. She posted a picture of Lewis’ drawing with a message appealing to her friends and family to share the post.

She wanted to ‘make his weekend a wee bit brighter’, and show him ‘that his artwork has the possibility to travel everywhere.’

The post has now been shared over 8,000 times with comments from across the world. Having seen the post on Facebook, Steven contacted Lewis. ‘I wanted to praise him for his amazing attitude, his brilliant McCoo, and to confirm what his gran was hoping…that he could in fact achieve anything’, said Steven.

Lewis and his family visited Steven at his store in Ayr yesterday where they spent the day with Steven who confirmed the good news about his drawing.

McCoo Artist, Steven Brown, commented:

"What better way to show him what he could achieve than to take his design, replicate it and sell it with all the money being donated to his families chosen charity; Scottish Autism.

"He’s a phenomenal young man and I’m privileged to have had the chance to meet him."

Lewis said it has been ‘the best day ever’.

Ayrshire Daily News were at the McCoo HQ in Ayr yesterday (Saturday 10th Feb) and we caught this clip with Steven.

‘Lewis Clark McCoo’ is available in a 8” x 12” print now from stevenbrownart.co.uk for £3 + P&P with all profits being donated to Scottish Autism.
