New £2.1 million Early Learning Centre opened in Dalrymple

Very young learners in Dalrymple are today celebrating the completion of their new Early Childhood Centre.

Built by East Ayrshire Council thanks to an investment of £2.1 million the Dalrymple ECC was opened by Jeane Freeman OBE, MSP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley.

The extension comprises two new ECC playrooms, two new primary school classrooms and a fantastic outdoor area for fun, games, activities, learning and play.

The project also included the creation of a community centre within the school, offering a wide range of social, sport, community opportunities.

Jeane Freeman, MSP said: “The Scottish Government is committed to getting it right for every child, and we know that children reach their full potential not just through education, but also from play and sport, and from being part of resilient and thriving communities.

“The opening of this new Early Childhood Centre is great news for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, especially the community of Dalrymple. I am honoured to have been invited to formally open the Centre, and I look forward to visiting it often in the years ahead.”

Welcoming the guests, Councillor Tom Cook, Depute Leader of East Ayrshire Council added: “This new centre gives our young learners and staff a superb, bright and inspirational learning environment.

“The investment in our youngest children and in our local community will help our young people succeed from the earliest age, right through to their final year in school and beyond.

“It’s a really exciting time for Dalrymple and in the last few months, I know just how excited the children, parents, staff and local people have been as the work has progressed.

“I’m delighted that it is now open and look forward to the new facilities becoming a focal point for the communities to enjoy social, sport, community and educational successes, now and for generations still to come.”
