NHS Ayrshire and Arran Misses A&E Waiting Time Targets
NHS Ayrshire & Arran was among seven health boards which missed their A&E waiting time targets over the festive break figures from the Scottish Government reveal.
NHS Ayrshire and Arran missed the Scottish Government’s own target of having 95% of all patients either admitted, transferred or discharged within four hours.
West Scotland MSP Jamie Greene commented: “The Scottish Government needs to get a grip on NHS Ayrshire and Arran given everything that happened in 2016.”
“We need to see a concentrated approach with a proper action plan to bring NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s standards back to an acceptable level. I pressed Cabinet Secretary for Health Shona Robison on this last year and I will continue to do so in 2017.”
“It’s important that we identify why the problems are persisting so we can find a way to properly address them.”
Mr Greene highlighted that he did not put the blame on the hospital or its staff.
“I fully appreciate that the festive periods are busy and I think the work done by the staff in these hospitals is amazing. They give up so much of their time during Christmas and the holidays to help others and we should commend that.”
