Planning approved for Girvan’s new Sacred Heart Primary

There’s great news for the children and staff of Sacred Heart Primary School as work is expected to start on the new school building this May!

Planning permission has just been granted for the £4.6m school which will be built on the site of the existing primary.

The school will be complete by August 2022, in time for the start of the new term.

With capacity for 125 children, the new Sacred Heart Primary will feature the latest technology, as well as interactive spaces to boost learning.

It’s an exciting prospect for children and staff who are currently guests at Girvan Primary School.

Councillor William Grant, Children and Young People Portfolio Holder said:

“This is fantastic news for Girvan and underlines our commitment to invest in education. I know the children and staff will be eager to get back to their school, but I am sure it will be worth the wait.”

Councillor Brian McGinley, Resources and Performance Portfolio Holder said:

“As we transition out of lockdown, it’s even more important that we have learning environments that stimulate children and help close the attainment gap. I have no doubt the new Sacred Heart Primary will help us do exactly that.”
