Police appeal after man killed in early morning crash on A77


Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road crash on the A77, Maybole, on Saturday 21 October 2017.

Around 0340 hours this morning, a blue Chevrolet Lacetti, travelling south and a northbound Saviem HGV, collided on the A77 at its junction with the B742 Cassilis, Maybole.

The 37 year old male driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene.

A report on his death will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The lorry driver, a 34 year old man, was not injured.

Sergeant Cat Gibbons, Divisional Road Policing Unit, Ayrshire, is appealing for witnesses to the crash, or who were travelling the route or who may have dash cam footage of the area, to contact officers at the Divisional Road Policing Unit, Ayrshire, via 101. Please quote incident number 0783/21/10/17 when calling.

Road opened at 1235 hours this morning.
