Police appeal after serious road crash in Dalry

Officers from the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine are appealing for witnesses after a serious road crash in Dalry on Sunday 31 December 2017.

Around 1110 hours on Sunday 31 December, a 24 year-old man was driving a Peugeot panel van southbound on the A737, Saltcoats Road, Dalry, when it appears that the vehicle lost control and collided with a Smart Forfour car being driven northbound by an 80 year-old man.


Emergency services attended and the 80 year-old driver of the Smart car, and his 70 year-old passenger were taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock. Hospital staff describe them both as being in a serious condition.


The driver of the Peugeot van was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where he was treated for his injuries then released after treatment.


Sergeant Ian Thornton of the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine said: “The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing, and at this time I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash, or anyone with information that may assist this investigation to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine through 101 quoting reference number 1423 of 31st December.
