Police continue additional patrols despite Gold cup cancellation


AYRSHIRE Police will continue with additional patrols in the areas despite the races being cancelled. 


A statement online said: “Despite the Ayr Gold Cup race meeting being cancelled, we still anticipate Ayr and other towns will be busy tomorrow (Saturday 23rd September). “A number of events are taking place in Ayrshire and further afield including the televised Old Firm fixture which gets underway at 12 midday.” A spokesperson for Ayrshire Police Division said: 

"We have plans in place to support events across Ayrshire and to minimise the disruption to local communities. "We will have additional officers on patrol throughout Ayrshire, who will visiting local licensed premises, including those showing the game on TV, to ensure compliance with licensing legislation and that patrons can enjoy the game in a safe environment."
