ScotRail announces £4million front-line recruitment drive
ScotRail recruiting more than 100 front-line jobs £4million investment Recruitment comes as ScotRail prepares to deliver faster journeys, more seats, and better services.
ScotRail has confirmed a £4million front-line recruitment drive, as the train operator prepares for the introduction of more new trains and extra services.
The firm announced the plan as it recruits more than 100 jobs – for drivers, conductors, and ticket examiners - across the country, with recruitment expected to be complete in the New Year.
The boost comes after ScotRail recently introduced the first of its brand new Hitachi class 385 trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow via Falkirk High. More new trains will be introduced on that route, and will be rolled out across the Central Belt. Iconic high-speed trains will be introduced soon to connect Scotland’s seven cities, and a number of stations are being upgraded.
Last week ScotRail announced a Smart ticketing pilot, which will allow customers to buy tickets using their mobile phones.
Alex Hynes, ScotRail Alliance Managing Director, said:
“The work we are doing to build the best railway Scotland has ever had will deliver faster journeys, more seats, and better services. We’re recruiting more than 100 people to make that a reality for our customers.
“This £4 million recruitment drive is a major investment in Scotland’s economy. Recruitment on this scale creates great career opportunities for our people and new recruits.”
