St John Scotland makes £2,000 donation to Crosshouse Renal Unit

The John Lynch Renal Unit of the University Hospital Crosshouse received a cheque last week for £2,000 from the Ayrshire and Arran committee of St John Scotland to fund lifesaving equipment.

The funds, raised by the Ayrshire and Arran committee at a coffee morning in St Columba’s Church in Stewarton, will be used to fund ECG equipment which will be of considerable benefit in the assessment and treatment of patients within the specialist Renal Unit of the hospital.

The John Lynch Renal Unit within NHS Ayrshire & Arran University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock, treats 90 dialysis patients, and a further 30 patients receive treatment at its satellite unit in University Hospital Ayr.

Rose-Ann Cunninghame, Chair of St John Scotland’s Ayrshire and Arran committee said:

“We are delighted to be providing the John Lynch Renal Unit with this donation. St John Scotland is dedicated to saving and enhancing life, and it is hoped this donation will help to do exactly that.

“Our committee did a fantastic job to raise such a substantial amount of money, and we couldn’t be happier to hand the cheque over to the Renal Unit to fund an ECG machine.”

Dr Ray Wan, Consultant at the John Lynch Renal Unit said:

“The staff and patients at the Renal Units in NHS Ayrshire & Arran would like to thank St John Scotland for their generous donation.

“It will enable the department to purchase new equipment to directly benefit patients, and support staff in providing the highest possible standard of care.”
