Team called to multi agency rescue near Cumnock
TEAM CALLED OUT TO MULTI-AGENCY TECHNICAL RESCUE NEAR CUMNOCK
The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team was called out around 7pm yesterday as part of a multi-agency operation in East Ayrshire.
The team was requested along with Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team for their specialist technical rope rescue capability to assist after a male had fallen approximately 60ft down a gully.
All branches of the emergency services were tasked to the callout including specialist resources including the Rope Rescue Team from the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, Police Mountain Rescue and also Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 199 from Prestwick Airport.
As the team arrived on scene, the casualty had been successfully rescued and was being conveyed to the Coastguard Helicopter which had landed on nearby.
A short time later, the rescued casualty was flown to hospital by Rescue Helicopter 199 for further medical attention.
With the casualty successfully rescued and en route to hospital, Coastguard resources have been stood down and returned to their respective stations to complete the necessary paperwork, repack equipment and make ready for the next callout.
