The Sky Is The Limit for Ayrshire Cancer Support
The sky’s the limit for local charity, Ayrshire Cancer Support (ACS) who have been given a welcome boost by The Scottish International Airshow, to be staged at Ayr seafront on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September.
The Ayrshire charity who provide practical and emotional support for people affected by cancer in Ayrshire have joined forces with the Scottish International Airshow to raise vital funds at the two day event which draws crowds in excess of 120,000 visitors.
A number of activities over the weekend are planned by the air show management, which generate additional income for the event, which costs a huge amount to stage.
Doug Maclean, TSIA Director has pledged a generous percentage of proceeds from raffles and bucket collections, as a donation to Ayrshire Cancer Support.
Volunteer teams from the Airshow and Ayrshire Cancer Support will be on hand to help collect funds.
Sandra McCall, CEO, Ayrshire Cancer Support said, "We are delighted to have teamed up with the Scottish International Air Show and be provided the opportunity to raise funds which will directly benefit local people and their families affected by cancer.
"Our hospital transport service undertakes over 1,000 journeys a month and despite these being carried out by our amazing volunteers, we still need to raise over £2,000 per week to sustain this service alone. Without it, some people who are currently receiving life-saving cancer treatment would be unable to attend crucial appointments – and that simply can’t happen.
"If anyone could volunteer a few hours of their time to help us fundraise at this brilliant event, please do get in touch."
Doug Maclean, Director TSIA said, "The Airshow can only take place because of the support from South Ayrshire Council and great sponsors like Spirit AeroSystems, Loganair and EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate.
"Bringing this enormous event to Ayr provides not only world class entertainment but allows many businesses and charities to benefit from the large numbers who attend. The Airshow attracts the largest family crowds of any outdoor event in Scotland and whilst it has been a labour of love, we are genuinely interested in attracting world class events to Ayrshire.
"People often ask if they can donate to help the Airshow and now, with this collection scheme, they can. It’s almost unheard of to know of anyone who has not been affected by cancer in some way and these donations will be invaluable to the Airshow and Ayrshire Cancer Support. It’s great to be able to contribute to the magnificent work of Ayrshire Cancer Support who help local people of all ages access cancer services throughout Ayrshire."
