TRAVEL: A77 Whatriggs Weekend closure for Resurfacing
As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will resurface 2.1km of the A77 Southbound from Whatriggs Overbridge to Craigie Road, near Kilmarnock.
In order to complete this short programme of work as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a weekend closure of the trunk road between Friday 2nd and Monday 5th of August.
Adam Sarwar, Scotland TranServ’s project design lead on the resurfacing works said:
“In order to complete these works with minimal disruption to commuters and businesses using this busy carriageway, we will work across the weekend. Scotland TranServ has worked in consultation with local authorities, emergency services and key stakeholders in the planning of this programme.”
To protect the health and safety of our workers and the travelling public, while minimising the impact of the works on commuters and freight traffic, it will be necessary to implement a full weekend closure of the A77 in this area, between the following times:
8pm on Friday 2nd to 6am on Monday 5th of August
Drivers are advised to allow additional time for their journeys. Live trunk road updates are available by visiting @trafficscotland.org or following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
