Travel - Kilmarnock to Ayr trains to be cancelled for a second day after major fire in Gatehead!
Trains between Ayr and Kilmarnock will be cancelled again tomorrow after a major Garage fire in Gatehead affected the railway line directly behind the garage.
Scotrail issued the following info below via there website.
Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway between Ayr and Kilmarnock the line is closed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Train services between Stranraer and Kilmarnock will be terminated at Ayr.
We're sorry but trains are currently unable to operate between Ayr and Kilmarnock following a fire in a building on Sunday evening which is within the railway boundary.
The building has been examined and all demolition work has now been carried out however the train line remains closed between Barassie and Kilmarnock, but once an estimate for the line to be reopened is given, we will update as soon as possible.
We have organised replacement road transport which will operate between Ayr and Kilmarnock calling at intermittent stations, these buses will be running at train time from Kilmarnock and Ayr but may take it will take a little longer by road than by rail.
Services between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock running as scheduled.
Services between Glasgow Central and Ayr running as scheduled
Services between Ayr, Girvan and Stranraer running as scheduled.
