Two men arrested by Police in Irvine for alleged theft offences
Two men have been arrested by police in Irvine for alleged theft related offences.
About 0005 hours on Tuesday 13th June 2017 police received reports of a man acting suspiciously within the Rivergate Centre, Irvine.
A 43 year old man was traced by Police and subsequently arrested for allegedly breaking into a child's entertainment machine with intent of stealing from it, disorderly conduct and alleged possession of an offensive weapon. About 2230 hours on Saturday 17th June 2017 officers received reports of a man acting suspiciously near a house in Meadow Avenue, Irvine. Following enquiries police arrested a 43 year old man for allegedly being found in circumstances where it could reasonably be inferred he intended on committing theft. Sergeant Jason Peter, of the Irvine Locality Policing Team, commented "The arrest of both these men are as a direct result of the local community reporting suspicious behaviour and the swift actions of local response policing officers. We would like to thank the community for their continued support. "We would encourage anyone who sees someone acting suspiciously to act on their instincts and report their concerns - it is better that we are called and not needed than needed and not called.
