Works to take place on busy A77 over 3 weeks!
Over half a million pounds of investment from Transport Scotland will be spent on improving the A77 at three locations, with the works being carried out over three weekends beginning on Friday, 21 October 2016. Scotland TranServ, which manages and maintains south west Scotland’s motorways and trunk roads on behalf of Transport Scotland, including the A77, will carry out the three major schemes in just 21 days to resurface approximately two miles of the route. To protect the safety of motorists and road users alike, a full closure is required to be in place with a signed local diversions in operation throughout the works.
The works will be carried out at the following locations: A77 Bridgemill to Girvan Mains – 24 hour working from 8.00pm on Friday 21 October until 6.00am on Monday 24 October. A77 Ardwell – 24 hour working from 8.00pm on Friday 28 October until 6.00am on Monday 31 October. A77 Minnybae – 24 hour working from 8.00pm on Friday 4 November until 6.00am on Monday 7 November. Scotland TranServ’s operating company representative, Andy Fraser said: “This significant investment will ensure that the A77 is maintained to a good standard and can withstand the impact of the 4,000 vehicles which travel on this route each day.
“We have made every effort to programme these works over the shortest period of time, therefore reducing disruption to road users; however motorists particularly those use the ferry ports should plan their journeys accordingly.” Road users can access real time traffic information by visiting Traffic Scotland’s website or following @TrafficScotland on Twitter.
