As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road maintenance programme, Scotland TranServ will resurface 0.5km of the A77 Southbound from Adamton to Raith Burn.
The £135k project will be carried out from 8pm on Thursday 23rd to 6am on Monday 27th November. Jane Maclennan, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Engineer said: “We’ve scheduled this short project alongside Police Scotland, the local authority and major local stakeholders. Works have been programmed for periods of lowest traffic flow, overnight and at the weekends. “In order to keep traffic flowing only single lane closures will be implemented on Saturday and Sunday during the day, with local diversions in place overnight while full Southbound closures allow our operatives to work as quickly and safely as possible.” To minimise the impact on commuters and businesses, the works will utilise a mixture of full overnight closures and daytime single lane closures as outlined below: · Thursday 23rd 8pm to 6am Friday 24th – Full Southbound closure, signed diversion · Friday 24th 8pm to 6am Saturday 25th – Full Southbound closure, signed diversion · Saturday 25th 6am to 8pm Saturday 25th – Carriageway reduced to one lane Southbound · Saturday 25th 8pm to 6am Sunday 26th – Full Southbound closure, signed diversion · Sunday 26th 6am to 8pm Sunday 26th – Carriageway reduced to one lane Southbound · Sunday 26th 8pm to 6am Monday 27th – Full Southbound closure, signed diversion The Northbound carriageway will remain fully operational throughout the works. Drivers are asked to allow an additional 20 minutes journey time due to the diversion. The recommended route includes: · From Dutch House Roundabout head west along the A78 · Then take the A79 Southbound · Head east along the B743, Heathfield Road · Re-join the A78 Southbound at the Whitletts Roundabout There will be no provision for abnormal loads or windfarm movements during the works, however Emergency Service and local access will be provided throughout. This project is one of a number of such schemes being scheduled by Scotland TranServ to deliver long-term benefits to commuters, local communities and businesses using the A77. Andy Fraser, Scotland TranServ’s Operating Company Representative added: “The A77 is an important economic artery for South West Scotland. That is why we have scheduled this significant programme of work to be delivered with maximum efficiency and minimal disruption.”
