ADN Travel - A77 Smyrton Burn Earthworks Remedials

As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will carry out essential earthworks remedials on the A77 at Smyrton Burn near Ballantrae.

In order to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to install temporary traffic lights on the trunk road from the week commencing Monday 10th September until early October.

Kefa Gacura, Scotland TranServ’s Assistant Bridges Manager said:

“This scheme has been accelerated following continuous monitoring of the site, with recently detected changes making it necessary to execute these works. We are therefore advising local authorities, emergency services, key stakeholders and local residents. Works will be delivered with minimal impact on the communities and businesses using this busy trunk road.

“To protect the health and safety of our workers and drivers, and enable access to this challenging site, it will be necessary to install temporary traffic lights during this programme of work. Early establishment of the site and further preparatory works will take place from Monday.

“Due to the narrow, winding geography of the trunk road in this area, we will need to implement a single lane closure in order to complete these works. This essential programme will help to maintain the long-term integrity of the road.”

Drivers are advised to allow additional time for their journey. Live trunk road updates are available by following @trafficscotland on Twitter or visiting their website trafficscotland.org.
