Here at Ayrshire Daily News we are very lucky. We are a small team of individuals, all with our own interests and experience. We all live in Ayrshire and the Daily News is what interests us.

The statistics tell us that we have readers in many countries around the world. Our writers all gather news and write stories that interest Ayrshire people and people wo know, and are interested in, Ayrshire.
Our biggest source of news comes from you, our readers. You tell us what you think. You share our pictures and stories with family and friends. We get many messages each day with information, questions and suggestions. We read every one and we often go to places on your recommendation.
We meet readers wherever we go and you often fill us in with the information and background that brings alive our reporting from around Ayrshire. Our readers are our community and together we make Ayrshire Daily News.
It is a true saying that a picture can be worth a thousand words. Our pictures are a very popular headline to many of the best stories. All our photographers have their own styles and favourite subjects to photograph or video.
Occasionally we light heartedly describe our photographers as our Ace Photographer or Expert Photographer.

One of those Ace Photographers is Eddie Wallace. Eddie fairly recently retired from a career as an Air Traffic Controller with NATS and now he indulges his passion for photography. Like all our photographers Eddie volunteers his photographs for us to publish and entertain you.
Best known for his aviation photography Eddie also produces wonderful images of wildlife. His sports photography is first class and he can even make a game of cricket look exciting !
Eddie has photographed aircraft around the world. This weekend he was at the Royal International Air Tattoo, at RAF Fairford, photographing exciting air display aircraft from around the world. Next stop the Ayr Festival of Flight in September.
Eddie watched the Army Air Corps display with a Wildcat helicopter and 2 Apache “gunships”. He said “I was watching the helicopter’s role demonstration and the pyrotechnic fireballs and explosions were spectacular. As the display drew to a close I had a feeling there may be something special about to happen.”

Eddie continued “I raised my trusty Canon camera and focussed on one of the Apaches. As the helicopter came into a hover and turned towards the crowd my finger was poised on the shutter button. I had set a low shutter speed to give a slight blur on the helicopter rotor blades.”
“I heard, as much as saw, a massive explosion and a wall of flame rose behind the helicopter. My finger had already pressed the button and I quickly ran off 5 or 6 pictures of the flames rising and changing colour and intensity.”
Eddie modestly said he was “quite pleased” with the resulting pictures.
What do you think of Eddie’s picture ?
