Ardrossan coastguard respond to inbound aircraft emergency!

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team was called out just before 1.30pm today as part of the multi-agency response to an inbound emergency at Prestwick Airport.

The team responded following reports of a passenger aircraft diverting to Prestwick Airport having declared an inflight emergency.

As the team was mustering on station an update was received advising the aircraft was now proceeding to London Heathrow.

As such, the team was stood down prior to departing station with team members thereafter booking off duty to return home to continue with their Sunday afternoon.

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team is part of the multi-agency response at Prestwick Airport and conducts routine training sessions with partner agencies including the aiport fire service.

Search and Rescue – it’s what we do.

In a coastal, beach or cliff emergency dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
