Ayrshire College encourages students to consider a career in care

Students and the public were encouraged to consider a career in care at recent Health and Social Care Career Information days, held at the Kilwinning and Kilmarnock Campuses.

Working in partnership with thirty two local exhibitors and with key national and local stakeholders from NHS Ayrshire and Arran, North Ayrshire Council and East Ayrshire Council, the events offered a one-stop information shop.

People came along to find out more about job opportunities in the sector, and Health and Social Care curriculum staff were on-hand to provide more information about courses available.

Health and Social Care Curriculum Manager, Julia Mathieson, said "The events were a great success. It was really encouraging for students to meet the wide range of employers that attended.

"Whether you want to work in residential childcare, support individuals with disabilities, provide homecare to older adults or go on to study mental health nursing, employers were there to talk about their recruitment opportunities and help students to kick-start a career in care.”

Applications are now open for Ayrshire College’s Health and Social Care courses.
