Ballantrae and Prestwick rescue 999 helicopter battle 70mph winds to help rescue injured woman


Belfast Coastguard team issued the following information. 

Tonight at 1831 Coastguard Rescue Teams from Portpatrick, Stranraer, Drummore & Ballantrae along with the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Prestwick battled 70mph winds and driving rain to rescue four people. 


Our colleagues in the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre received a report from Scottish Ambulance Service, who trying to locate a female with a severe leg injury in an area south of Portpatrick, along with three friends suffering from hypothermia. 

Coastguard Rescue Teams extracted the casualties from the scene, which was illuminated by the helicopter to a suitable area for the helicopter to land. 

They were then flown to hospital. Excellent job in very poor weather.
