The deal remains subject to completion, but the hospitality group has confirmed that the landmark seafront hotel is expected to become part of its expanding portfolio.

Overlooking Brodick Bay and Goatfell, The Douglas Hotel has welcomed island residents and visitors for more than 170 years and has become a familiar part of Arran’s tourism and hospitality scene.

The hotel will continue operating throughout the summer before temporarily closing during autumn and winter for an extensive refurbishment.

It is expected to reopen in spring 2027 as part of Buzzworks’ House Collection, offering a modern pub, restaurant and accommodation where visitors can eat, drink and stay while exploring the island.

Buzzworks said the redevelopment would respect the hotel’s long history, distinctive character and prominent setting, while introducing a refreshed and stylish experience for guests.

Further details about the refurbishment and reopening plans are expected to be announced as the project progresses.
