The people of Tarbolton have given the village’s new Community Campus their seal of approval. South Ayrshire Council officially opened the Campus on Wednesday 31 May, with children and families among the VIP guests.
Tarbolton Community Campus, incorporates the Primary School and Early Years Centre, the library, sports, leisure facilities and community rooms, all provided under one roof. The £8.2million project is part of a £94million pipeline of works being delivered across South Ayrshire in the next year, with the aim of enhancing standards through targeted investment.
Eileen Howat, Chief Executive of South Ayrshire Council said the new campus was a significant development, “Helping our communities to flourish is one of our major priorities, and investment like this provides people with a wide-range of facilities which help to nurture education while connecting local people and organisations. “Bricks and mortar are only part of the story though, and it’s plain that the community is enjoying the new building, particularly the children who are enthusiastic which shows that the campus is off to a good start. “I’d like to thank everyone involved for making the transition from old to new so painless, and I am sure that the people of Tarbolton will make great use of this fantastic new resource.”
Head teacher at Tarbolton Community Campus, Jackie Blair, said the school was already making a difference, “From the very first day the children embraced their new school, with its open plan classrooms bringing everyone closer together and helping us do things in new ways. “That’s also been important for our preparations for the official opening, with so many of our young people rolling up their sleeves to help tell Tarbolton’s story from the 1920s through to today. “Everyone involved had a great time in celebrating our new school and I’d like to thank all the children and families for their support in making it such a memorable night.”
