North Ayrshire has confirmed that dogs are welcome on all beaches.

Dogs are not banned from beaches, and responsible owners will not face a fine for simply exercising their pets by walking them along the sand.

Councillor Tony Gurney, Cabinet Member for Green Environment and Economy Said:

"While there are no bans or restrictions in place for dogs on any of our beaches, we would encourage all owners to act responsibly. We want everyone to enjoy North Ayrshire’s beautiful coastline, to get some fresh air and – hopefully – some sunshine. Dogs are a big part of many families, and your four-legged friends are welcome to enjoy the many lovely beaches we manage, from Ardrossan South Beach and Stevenston to Seamill and Arran."

Dog owners walking their pets on a beach are respectfully asked to always:

  • Be mindful of other visitors by keeping your pet on a lead, especially in busy areas and

  • Clear up after your dog - always pick up and dispose of dog waste responsibly.
