Dalmilling Primary Pupil Hits The Bullseye After Darts Success

A Primary 7 pupil from Dalmilling Primary School has enjoyed a night to remember after being crowned the overall individual winner at a brand-new schools cluster darts competition.

Ramsay Canniffe took part in the first-ever competition following a six-week block of darts coaching delivered to pupils by Coach Ryan from Newton Primary School.

The initiative proved to be a huge success for Dalmilling Primary, with the school being named overall winners. Ramsay also claimed the top individual prize, rounding off a fantastic achievement for the school and its young players.

Following his win, Ramsay was invited along to the MDA Events darts evening at Ayr Racecourse, where he enjoyed a front row view of the action and experienced the electric atmosphere of a live darts event.

The night was made even more special when Ramsay watched Luke Littler hit a nine-darter, one of the most exciting moments in the sport.

He also had the chance to enjoy a meet and greet during the evening, including meeting an Olympic gold medal-winning curling champion, making it a truly memorable experience.

Caitlin Lawrie, chair of the parent council at Dalmilling Primary School, said the school was keen to celebrate Ramsay’s success with the wider local community.

She said: “We’re proud to share that our school were the overall winners. In addition, Ramsay was crowned the overall individual winner, earning a fantastic prize.

“Ramsay’s favourite part of the night was seeing Luke Littler get a nine-darter, the overall atmosphere, and meeting the Olympic gold medal-winning curling champion.”

The competition marks a positive new opportunity for young people to get involved in darts, while also building confidence, focus and sportsmanship.

Ramsay’s achievement has brought pride to Dalmilling Primary School and given the young darts fan an experience he will never forget.
