Innovative projects designed to improve South Ayrshire Council's public services have made the long list in all but one of the categories for this year's COSLA Excellence Awards. The awards highlight projects that are transforming lives in communities across Scotland, setting new standards and spreading good practice, with a focus on quality service delivery.
Four Council projects are now in the running for Silver Awards having already been recognised for Bronze:
Delivering better services – Golfing in a modern way
Achieving better outcomes – Strategic approach to welfare reform
Strong and sustainable communities – Provost's school footprint challenge
Local matters – Freestyle environmental visual audit.
Councillor Peter Henderson, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Resources and Performance said the news highlighted the impact of a broad range of projects, "We're proud to have been recognised in all but one of the categories, a fantastic achievement and a ringing endorsement of the difference the projects have made.
"The Council's committed to improving the way we work to make lives better for communities, and all of our nominations represent different ways of doing things and making the best use of our resources, while helping to make informed choices about the future.
"I'd like to congratulate everybody involved behind the scenes for all their hard work so far, and wish all four teams the best of luck ahead in making it on to the Silver Awards shortlist."
A short list of the top three applications from each category will be announced at the end of the month, with the eventual winners announced at the awards ceremony in October.
