The Glasgow leg of Scotland’s biggest mass participation walking event is gathering pace, with the earliest wave of the Mighty Stride now officially fully booked.

Organisers of the Glasgow Mighty Stride have confirmed that the 8.30am start time at Glasgow Green has sold out, reflecting strong demand from walkers eager to take part in the annual fundraising event. However, thousands of places remain available across later start times, with the 9.00am, 9.30am and 10.00am waves still open to participants.
The Mighty Stride forms part of the wider Kiltwalk programme, which brings together communities from across Scotland to raise vital funds for charities of their choice. Each year, participants walk routes ranging from short family-friendly distances to the full Mighty Stride, with every penny raised by walkers passed directly to their chosen causes.

Central to the success of the Kiltwalk is the continued support of philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter, whose charitable foundation underwrites the event’s running costs. This commitment ensures that charities receive 100 per cent of the funds raised by participants, a model that has helped the Kiltwalk generate tens of millions of pounds for good causes across the country.

Sir Tom’s backing has been widely credited with transforming the scale and impact of the Kiltwalk, enabling grassroots charities, community groups and national organisations alike to benefit from sustained, long-term fundraising. His work through the Hunter Foundation continues to support initiatives focused on health, education, young people and community wellbeing throughout Scotland.

With Glasgow once again expected to welcome thousands of walkers to its streets and green spaces, organisers are encouraging people across Ayrshire and beyond to sign up while places remain. Participants are reminded that the event is open to individuals, families, workplaces and community groups, making it one of the most inclusive charity events on the Scottish calendar.
Registration for the remaining Glasgow Mighty Stride waves is open now, with walkers urged to secure their place early and begin fundraising in support of causes close to their hearts.
