More than 2,500 people turned out for the Communities Fun Day on Saturday, 9 September, one of the biggest gatherings yet for this annual event.

Organised by South Ayrshire Council and Council tenants, the free fun day is an opportunity for different communities to come together and take part in a range of exciting activities. There was plenty to see and do both indoors and outdoors with laser quest, horse riding, petting zoo, and wipe out challenge all proving popular. The West FM Roadshow was also there on the day with DJ Zoe Kelly playing tunes and running competitions. The performance stage went down a storm, with budding singers, dancers and entertainers wowing the crowds. Tips and advice on everything from saving energy to reducing household bills was available at the info zone with the stands attracting a lot of interest. Councillor Philip Saxton, Housing & Customer Services Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "The Communities Fun Day is quickly becoming an iconic event in South Ayrshire. It's attended by residents from Barassie to Ballantrae and the range of activities available is truly staggering. "The focus is very much on having fun but it's heartening to know the info zone was also busy with people getting advice on a range of issues. I would like to thank the organisers and particularly all the volunteers who give up their time to make the event possible."
