With a track record in his local Community Council and South Ayrshire Council’s Education Appeals panel, his proven experience of standing up for working families, small businesses, and public services will enable him to be an effective Councillor for North Ayr.

Commenting Ian Douglas said:

“I’m running because I believe Ayr North deserves a representative who listens, who shows up, and who delivers. This by-election is an opportunity to choose real leadership someone who will fight for better housing, safer streets, and investment in our schools and local services.

“This isn’t about politics as usual. It’s about delivering real results for real people. I’m ready to work and to listen every single day.”

Ian, who has spent years actively involved in community initiatives, says his priorities include:

• Improving local housing conditions and increasing access to affordable homes

• Supporting youth opportunities and expanding mental health services

• Tackling anti-social behaviour through collaboration with community policing

• Protecting frontline services and advocating for more local investment

The by-election comes because of the tragic death of Councillor Mark Dixon, who sadly passed away in July.

Ian Douglas invites all residents of Ayr North to reach out, get involved in the campaign, and share their ideas for a better community.
