Last few days remaining to comment on new Riverside Development for Ayr

Time is now running out for the public to have their say on plans to transform a neglected part of Ayr's historic town centre. A South Ayrshire Council project to create a new Riverside Office Development and Public Realm Space on Ayr High Street is currently open for public comment.

A masterplan for the cleared site was approved in February 2017 to regenerate land between the medieval "Auld Brig" and the Victorian "New Bridge".

The masterplan sets out a vision for a mixed use development including quality office accommodation and housing, as well as space for niche retail units, cafes, restaurants and spaces for public engagement.

The anchor development in the wider plan is South Ayrshire Council's new Riverside office accommodation, with capacity for 350 workers. The plan for the office building sets out a commitment to top quality design including the use of materials that relate to existing historic buildings and to an overall scale that respects the surrounding conservation area. This will be complimented by an enhanced public realm area.

A planning application was submitted for the project in January 2018, with the public consultation period ending on 27 February. However, comments will still be possible until the end of that week.

Full details of the project are available here. To comment on this application, please click on this link.
