Man suffers head injuries after alleged assault on Ayr's Main Street


Detectives are continuing enquiries following a serious assault in Ayr on Sunday 8 May 2016.

Just after midnight, police received a report of a man being injured in Main Street, Ayr. Emergency services attended and a 41 year old man was taken the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with a serious head injury.


The incident had taken place just outside the local Indian Takeaway on Ayr's busy Main Street on Saturday night.

Enquiries carried out so far have established the man has been the victim of a serious assault.

Officers are in the process of carrying out door-to-door enquiries and gathering CCTV footage from in and around the area for further information.

Detective Sergeant Jane Hogg said:

“Our enquiries so far have revealed the man has been subjected to a serious assault. We are in the process of trying to piece together his movements and establish exactly what has happened to him. I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or heard any sort of disturbance in the area to contact us. Any information or knowledge about the crime or the suspect could prove vital in our enquiries as we try to trace whoever is responsible.”
