Starting with repairing punctures from the house to getting premises, then to be recognised for what Mobityre does.
Kilmarnock business, Mobityre & Autocare Scotland, managed to snap up 'Best Service Company' in Ayrshire at the annual Ayrshire Business Awards held at Ayr Racecourse on the 9th June.
The company didn't even know they were nominated until a letter had come through the post telling them they had got to the final.
Owners John and Lynn Paton were shocked to find this out and felt very humbled that their customers had taken the time to vote for them.
Lynn told Ayrshire Daily News:
"John started repairing punctures from home with a mobile van, people then wanted him to do some mechanical work, fixing brakes, discs, coil springs and more, so we installed a ramp in the driveway of our house and continued to progress from there.
"We then needed to get premises so we got a garage at Grange Street, Kilmarnock - we had built up a clientele and then a fire broke out behind our garage premises in the units at Grange Street subsequently taking our garage with it, this happened just as we were about to go live with our new MOT station, we lost everything and had to start again."
Of course that wasn't the end for John and Lynn as premises became available in Crosshouse, Kilmarnock, to which they took the leap and started again with great determination.
Lynn continued:
"John had said he really needed to get the MOT bay up and running so we started again from scratch and our customers from Grange Street came to us at Crosshouse and we also started to get new customers come to us from the area and we have just expanded from there, through hard work and determination."
As they continue to expand, the company offer a courtesy car to their customers, a pick up and delivery service and have also invested in a recovery truck.
We asked Lynn and John what this meant to the whole team at Mobityre and Autocare:
"The team feel honoured and are delighted about winning the Award, we were unaware that we had been nominated for the Ayrshire Business Awards til a letter came through saying we were in the final, to say we were shocked was an understatement, we were also very humbled that customers had taken the time to nominate us, then again vote for us which had led us to win the Best Customer Service award."
Just being in the final was enough for the team. John and Lynn were just chuffed to be there, but winning was certainly the icing on the cake.
Now the award winning business has managed to secure a spot in the Scotland Business Awards Grand Final 2020 in Glasgow.
Mobityre & Autocare support a few charities, one being Combat Stress and they support the Crosshouse Football Team as well as giving raffle prizes every year to Grange Academy and the fetes.
