Multi-agency response to a person in the water at Prestwick yesterday morning

The Ardrossan Coastguard Rescue Team was called out just before 10am yesterday morning to reports of a person and a dog in the water at Prestwick.

The team responded immediately with RNLI Troon Lifeboat and Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team also responding.

Whilst en route, an update was received advising both the person and dog had safely been recovered from the water.

The team continued to the scene to liaise with Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team who had spoken with the person involved and provided the relevant safety advice.

All rescue resources have thereafter been stood down to return to their respective stations with the team completing the necessary paperwork and then booking off duty shortly before midday.

We would always advise people not to enter the water in an attempt to rescue an animal. Please keep yourself safe and if at the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Search and Rescue - it's what we do.

In a coastal, beach or cliff emergency dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
