Book lovers in Ayr are being given speedy access to library services from the heart of their community. The new Carnegie Express is setting up shop at the Lochside Community Centre every Monday from 9 April, 2018.
The service will see staff from Carnegie provide a selection of books for young and old to borrow.
People going along on the day will also be able to join the library, return books and find out about the other services available, including eBooks, audio books, newspapers, magazines, ancestry searches and more.
Councillor Brian McGinley, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure said he hoped that people would make good use of the new service “We’re doing things differently to help take services out into the community to broaden access to as many people as possible.
“This pilot project gives book lovers the opportunity to use the new pop-up library, while encouraging more people to sign up as members to our network of libraries, helping to increase use and making facilities sustainable in the long term.
“The Carnegie Express is a great example of taking a novel approach to service delivery and I’d urge people in Lochside to come along and find out more about this exciting new service.”
The Carnegie Express will run weekly every Monday between 1.30pm and 4pm (starting on Monday 9 April) at Lochside Community Centre, Lochside Road, Ayr KA8 9HL.
