Police appeal after robbery in Kilmarnock

ROBBERY - KILMARNOCK

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and appealing for information after an elderly man was robbed within his home in Kilmarnock on Sunday 4 March 2018.

Around 2120 hours on Sunday evening, the 80 year-old man was woken by the sound of someone breaking into his home in Raithburn Avenue, Kilmarnock. The suspect demanded money and then ran off with a two-figure sum, in the direction of Onthank Drive.

Detective Constable Scott Moore of Kilmarnock Police Office said: “To target an elderly man within his own home is cowardly and totally unacceptable. He must be caught.

“Luckily the elderly man was uninjured, however he has been left extremely shaken by this robbery.

“At this time, we have no description of the suspect, however officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the local area including house to house enquiries, and checking CCTV footage from the local area.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone who has information that may assist our investigation to contact Kilmarnock Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 3598 of 4th March.”
