Police Appealing For Information Following an Attempted Murder in Girvan

Detectives are appealing for information after a wilful fireraising at a property in Girvan on Saturday, 13 September, 2025.

Around 10.45pm, police received a report of a fire set at a property in Whiteford.


A member of the public forced entry to the property and assisted the 21-year-old woman within.


Emergency services attended and no-one was injured.


The male suspect was aged in his late teens, wearing dark-coloured clothing and a black baseball cap. He was last seen running in the direction of Assel Place, Girvan.


Detective Constable Gill Wilson said:

"This was a dangerous and completely reckless act. Luckily the woman was not injured, however, the consequences could have been much more serious.

We are treating this incident as attempted murder.


"We are working to trace the person responsible as soon as possible and I urge anyone with information that may assist our investigation to please contact us.


“ If you were in the area on Saturday evening and witnessed anything suspicious or have any details or footage that will help our enquiries, please come forward.
