Police name elderly couple who died in Mauchline B743 road crash


A man aged 80 and a woman aged 78 have died following a road crash near Mossblown in Ayrshire.

Around 3:00pm on Tuesday 3 May 2016, a white Kia Venga car was travelling west on the B743 road near to Mossblown when it was involved in a head on collision with a Renault LGV truck which was travelling east towards Mauchline.


Henry aged 80 and Jessie McBeath aged 78

Emergency services attended and the driver and passenger of the Kia car were pronounced dead at the scene. They can be named as Henry McBeath and Jessie McBeath from Sorn in Ayrshire.

The driver of the truck was uninjured but has been left badly shaken by the incident.

The road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators examined the scene.

Police Scotland, yesterday, told Ayrshire Daily News that a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Iain Pittams is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have seen the Kia Venga car or Renault truck prior to the incident to contact them at Irvine Police Office on 101.
