Runners are being invited to take on one of Ayrshire’s best-known climbs when the Cairn Table Hill Race returns on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The event will run from 6.30pm until 8.30pm and will see participants tackle a demanding 7.2km course up Cairn Table, one of Ayrshire’s finest hills.
Entry costs £15, with a reduced fee of £13 for members of Scottish Athletics, England Athletics or Welsh Athletics. Organisers have confirmed that all entries must be made in advance through EntryCentral, with no opportunity to sign up on the night.
The race will be chip timed to ensure accurate results.

Organisers have also stressed the importance of runners understanding the demands of the event before taking part.
This is a hill race rather than a trail or cross-country event, meaning competitors should be comfortable running over rough, unmarked terrain and prepared to be self-reliant. The route will not be marked and there will be no support available out on the course.
Fell shoes are required due to the challenging ground conditions, and runners may be subject to kit checks.
Participants are also being reminded that if they come across anyone injured, distressed or in need of assistance, they should stop to help, even if it affects their own race.

Anyone who withdraws or retires must inform the race organiser as soon as possible.
There are no suitable sources of drinking water along the route, so runners are being urged to plan accordingly before setting off.
