The Ayrshow was full of cheer this afternoon as tens of thousands of people watched the displays along Ayr beach. Meanwhile more cheer was brought in the AERALIS company marquee when Prestwick and the aircraft design company signed a Strategic Agreement to locate the assembly and long term maintenance of the aircraft at Prestwick Airport.
By the end of the year we will know the exact location of the new aircraft assembly building but Ayrshire Daily News understands it will be constructed on the north side of the airport near what most people call the HMS Gannet site.
Ian Forgie, CEO of Prestwick airport said “This agreement with AERALIS is the foundation stone that will return Scotland to its deserved place as a first tier aviation nation. We remain tremendously excited about the opportunities it brings to generate jobs. Apprenticeships, investment and innovation.”
Alan Gemmell MP for Central Ayrshire said “AERALIS’ partnership with Glasgow Prestwick could lead to hundreds of well paying jobs here in Ayrshire with potential for hundreds more.”
Ayrshire Daily News understands that the first part of the new aircraft assembly building will bring at least 400 long term jobs. We have had the opportunity to talk directly to Tristan Crawford this weekend and we will be revealing much more exciting detail in an exclusive interview next week.
Enjoy the Red Arrows at the 2025 Ayrshow. The new Prestwick built Red Arrows may be featuring at our Ayrshow in years to come.
