Renaldo's Ices, popular with both the locals and tourists, scooped up two prestigious awards at the Ayrshire Business Awards 2019, held at Ayr Racecourse.
The Ice Cream store was nominated for 'Best Specialised Retailer' - which they won. However, to their surprise, the team also won the Best Ayr Business award.
Business owners Silvio and Linda Galli have been in Renaldo's for nearly 30 years and work tirelessly to keep it current, fresh and spotlessly clean. Most of the staff have been with the business for a long time and are like family and share Silvio and Linda's passion.
Speaking with owner Linda, she said:
"It was just an amazing feeling winning 2 awards! We had been nominated for Best Specialised Retailer but in the second half of the awards ceremony and we won Best Ayr Business that was just the icing on the cake!
"We had son Michael, Fraser (our creative designer) Wendy and Jeni, 2 of our senior staff and Sinead, Hannah and Erin representing the Young Team Renaldo's!
"We were just ecstatic! Everyone came back to ours for the after party and we carried on celebrating till the wee small hours."
Renaldo's make all Ice Cream and handmade chocolates in the store and wholesale to a select number of shops, local restaurants and destination outlets such as Heads of Ayr Farm Park and Pirate Pete's.
Linda continued:
"We pride ourselves in our Ice Cream, more of gelato with only 3% fat, made from locally sourced organic milk, from Mossgiel Farm in Mauchline.
"All the flavours are made the same way, using our Old fashioned vanilla as a base and the best quality of ingredients to create a flavour that smacks you between the eyes!"
The team are busy at this time of the year with weddings, with their Ice Cream cart and candy buffet being booked every weekend throughout the summer and to add the personal touch, business owners Silvio and Linda always provide that service themselves.
Renaldo's also do their bit for charity with the Ayrshire Hospice and Whiteleys Retreat being Renaldo's chosen charities. Weekly deliveries of Ice Cream is sent to the Hospice and guest of Whiteleys can go into the store for Ice Cream anytime during their stay.
