Ayrshire food brand Tempura is celebrating its fifth anniversary, reflecting on a period of rapid growth that has seen the business expand across the region, created up to 70 jobs and raised significant funds for various charities.

In a post shared on social media, the company said: “Today we turn 5… 5 years ago Brandon started this journey with a dream and a Mark. We opened the doors to the Ayr Restaurant on the 16th of November 2020 and went into full lockdown 7 days later.”
Despite opening just a week before Scotland entered a national Covid-19 lockdown, Tempura has since launched a series of ventures, including Tempura Ayr, Tempura Ayr 2go, Tempura Kilmarnock 2go, Tempura Troon, Tempura on Tour, a production kitchen and headquarters in Prestwick, Spudbuds and the Spudbuds trailer. A Prestwick 2go outlet also operated before closing, and the business says Tempura North Ayrshire is “loading.”
The company highlighted the creation of four separate businesses under the West Coast banner and noted several industry accolades, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Best Takeaway for both Tempura and Spudbuds, Best Team and Best Social Media.
Tempura said it has now created more than 70 local jobs and raised over £110,000 for charity.
The post added: “It’s not always been easy but most importantly we have had so much fun along the way and we try to be better each and every day… A massive thank you to all of our incredible staff, customers and suppliers for coming along this amazing journey with us. Here’s to the next 5 years.”
