Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, is undertaking essential traffic loop installation on the A77 at Whitletts Roundabout on the south approach and exit from Thursday 16th February until Friday 17th February 2023. The installation will take place between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
This scheme will benefit around 36,000 vehicles using this route each day, completing works that commenced in January 2023 to improve the condition of the carriageway and reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in the future. Traffic loops help to monitor the flow of traffic on the trunk road network.
The work will be carried out using an overnight road closure and a signed diversion will be in place. We thank road users for their patience and cooperation while this essential work takes place.
The signed diversion will operate as follows:
Northbound traffic will be diverted onto the A70 westbound at Holmston Roundabout and will turn right onto the A79 Station Road. From here, traffic will travel in a northerly direction before turning right onto the A719 and re-joining the A77 at Whitletts Roundabout.
Access to emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works. Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be canceled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favorable.
