TRAVEL: A78 set to close for Skelmorlie Resurfacing works next month

As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will shortly resurface 510m of the A78 between Eglinton Terrace and Skelmorlie Castle Road in Skelmorlie.

In order to complete this short programme of resurfacing as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to close the trunk road over the weekend of Friday 4th to Monday 7th of October.

Anthony Chambers, Scotland TranServ’s project design lead on the works said:

“Scotland TranServ has been working in consultation with the local authority, emergency services and key stakeholders to minimise the impact of this £229k programme on the local community and businesses. Works have therefore been scheduled out with the busy holiday periods.

“Because of the nature of the carriageway in this section of the A78, it is necessary to close the trunk road over the weekend, in order to protect the health and safety of our workers and the travelling public. Lengthy diversions will be in place over the weekend and we would ask drivers to allow plenty of extra time for their journeys.”

It will be necessary to close the trunk road during the following times:

8pm on Friday 4th until 6am on Monday 7th of October

Lengthy diversions will be in place throughout this short programme of work, with drivers advised to allow an additional 40 minutes onto their journeys. Live trunk road updates are available on trafficscotland.org, or by following @trafficscotland on Twitter.
