When Ciaran McBride decided he wanted to raise money for his favourite charity, Whiteleys Retreat, he went out and managed to get hold of the latest Sony PS5 games console, and put it up for grabs by people donating just £10 to try and win it.
It's a winning combination of giving to charity and the thrill of possibly getting something in return.
Ciaran who is the deputy manager of Virgin Money in Irvine and is no stranger to supporting charities.
He told Ayrshire Daily News:
I went out one day and bought the ps5 and figured that it could be used to raise some much-needed money for Whiteleys Retreat. I’m hoping to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in September for them and running the London Marathon (virtually) for them as well.
Whitley's Retreat is an incredible charity that I am raising funds for - they provide respite to families in need during life-threatening illnesses their children are dealing with. Such a wonderful group of people.
I hope that I can raise as much as possible and have had £750 raised within the last 5 days. The ps5 cost £450 so to win it for £10 is amazing as well as being able to get a good amount raised for them.
